Elite Sports uniform review

Elite sports sent me a jujitsu uniform for free in exchange for an honest product review. They sent me the men’s core Navy jujitsu gi for me to check out. It is a size A4. That fits within the size range on their chart for my body size. I'm 5’9” and 200 pounds.

The first thing I notice is the pants. it has a very sturdy cord system. The pants have plenty of loops and the cord has some elastic. It actually makes for a very secure fit. The cord is a little bulky so it may be a little bit uncomfortable in some situations. The pants are a little thin. It's kind of consistent with some lightweight military uniform so it's not too bad. The color is nice, but the pants and top do not match. The top is very sturdy thick material. it looks like it is going to do very well against any grappling situation. Its seams are very well sown. It's got double edging around the bottom of the edges with the reinforced material. The lapels and collars are very thick, very sturdy with even a little bit of padding, so I think they will withstand being pulled, tugged, and twisted very well.

The first trying on of the uniform the pants fit very well. The length excellent and the waist fit very well for me. The pants were very comfortable. The jacket when I placed it on my initial response is there's a little binding under my arm. It's a little narrow in the arms and shoulders that would hindered my movement a little bit with the way it is currently. We will see if that changes after I wash, but right now it is binding me in the in the underarm area. The sleeves are a little too long compared to the size of the uniform. The overall length of the uniform from shoulder to the bottom of the uniform is short. It is my size and even for a bigger person. The bottom of this uniform is significantly short. In a grappling situation within the first throw you're going to have to readjust and put your do gi back into the belt. It's going to come loose. The pants have re-enforced knees. One of the seams runs right over top of the knee cap. This is uncomfortable when on your knees.

It is a nice looking uniform. One thing that I personally don't care for is the excessive use of their logo. It has a large logo on the left lapel. A large logo on the right arm and another small little tag on the left arm. A smaller logo somewhere on the uniform to indicate where it is from would surely be significant without being overly gaudy with too much advertising.

To complete the review, I washed the uniform in cold water and line tried it. I did not notice any shrinking. The fabric dried fast. A wash did not relieve the binding in the arm pits.

Overall, this uniform does not fit correctly across the back and shoulders and is too short in body length. The sleeves are too long. The fabric is nice and the design is nice except for the length and fit. Review conducted by Ed Hershman Jr., President RHKKA April 16, 2022.
